SuperVision Plays Key Role in Arrest of One of Fort Worth Area’s Ten Most Wanted

October 24th, 2007

A recent article posted on the PR Insider website tell how SuperVision was used to catch a wanted criminal.

‘Following a car pursuit late that night, the bad guy hid in a heavily wooded area. When our search team flushed him out, one of my officers on the perimeter used Xenonics’ SuperVision(TM) to see the suspect sneaking out under the cover of darkness — or so he thought. We apprehended him in a tunnel nearby. This particular bad guy was on Tarrant County’s 10 most wanted list, and had evaded us seven times before,’ said Sergeant Richard Dotson, Fort Worth Police Department.

Xenonics CEO Chuck Hunter said, ‘We are gratified that our patented and proprietary SuperVision high-definition night vision played a key role in nighttime surveillance leading up to this important arrest. The experience of Sergeant Dotson and his team clearly demonstrates how law enforcement officers can do their jobs better and more safely with SuperVision. We believe that SuperVision, a new category of night vision, will be a vital tool for police departments across the country.’

SuperVision is a hand-held, lightweight night viewing system that uses a sophisticated CCD sensor and digital signal processor to transform ambient light that is invisible to the naked eye into a sharp and clear image on an HDTV display. SuperVision provides unprecedented resolution, clarity, and range, and offers up to 8x zoom capability, something no other vision system can match.

According to Sergeant Dotson, ‘My team addresses high priority special crime issues in Fort Worth, so we are involved in surveillance, pursuit and apprehension of criminals every day. With the enhanced performance and safety that SuperVision provides, we can take back the night from the bad guys. SuperVision’s zoom capability helps me position my officers for better cover, distance and control than Gen III night vision. SuperVision is a fantastic law enforcement tool that increases our efficiency and allows us to operate in ways we never could before.’

As a Vihtavouri powder, B&P shotgun shells, or Lapua ammunition customer, we know you are a very discriminating consumer. Whether a top of the line competitive shooter, business owner, physician, dentist, engineer, pilot or other professional, our customers have one thing in common. Their shooting sport and time is very precious.

We are pleased to announce that we are grouping the Vihtavouri, B&P, and Lapua product lines under our Kaltron Outdoors division. Unless we have a particularly good product or some important industry news, we won’t waste our time or yours. So please, if you see a Kaltron Outdoors email don’t send it to spam, take a look.

SuperVision, a night vision monocular made by Xenonics, is a revolutionary product now proudly offered by Kaltron Outdoors. You’ve seen the advances made by digital technology in virtually every area of electronics. Now it’s night vision’s turn. Intelligent digital processing knows which pixels to amplify and which pixels to leave alone. No more blooming, picture smear, by a light in the field of view. No more grainy green analog. Instead, SuperVision produces crisp, high resolution, black and white imaging. And, SuperVision costs about three times less than the next digital competitor.

I can hear it now, “but I don’t have a need for night vision.” Perhaps so, but have you ever been cruising in your boat in a starlit though otherwise black as pitch night and wanted to see what’s on the surface beyond the beam of your spotlight? Have you been in wilderness area at night and wanted to see what or who is beyond the light of the campfire? Have you wanted to get the drop on a trespasser who would otherwise not move and wait out the beam of your flashlight? Are you curious about nocturnal critters like owls, bats, lynx, bobcat, coyote, moths, egg laying turtles, fish spawning, horseshoe crabs and the like? Multiply the number of stars and meteors in the night sky ten fold. Do you live in Alaska or one of the remote parts of the Lower 48 and just wanted to avoid passing grizzly, black bear, or cougar? Are you a peace officer, game warden, park ranger, rescue worker or other professional entrusted with public safety or preserving our nature areas? Are you a reporter, researcher, scientist, or other investigator who needs to know who or what’s coming and going after sun down? Maybe you just want to see what the dog has cornered in the back yard or what all the laughing is about at the neighbor’s pool party. In any case, SuperVision will open the door to your night viewing adventures.

Well, I’ve been demonstrating SuperVision for the past couple of months and I’m still impressed. Though it’s science, not a miracle. You need some star light, even if it still does look dark as pitch to the naked eye. You can’t see in a cave, mine, closet, basement or in buildings closed off to star light or small piece of moon. It’s incredible under star light on water, excellent in open plains or fields, good in clearings, not so good under heavy tree canopy. I had a guy call madder than heck, because he didn’t see a picture when he turned it on. Note; it can’t remove its own lens cap. It isn’t rifle or helmet mountable, because it’s just for the fun of looking. Check out this clip which includes still photo comparisons; Just click PLAY at http://www.wownightvision.com/index.html
